Adding An Image

Prepare the image:

The listing will specify what size your image needs to be.

If your image needs to be cropped, please do so before uploading. Crop an image using your photo app or editing software or for free using an online photo editor (such as imageresizer.org).

Always resize in 300 DPI if the option is available. Prior to uploading, make sure your photo file is no larger than 6MB.

Upload the image:

Click on the image you want to replace and you will see a button in the tools panel that says Replace Image. Upload your image and it will replace the existing image.

Photo / image tips:
  • The green dotted line indicates the edges of the card. Anything outside of the green dotted line will be cut off. Your photo must extend past this line to the edge of the visible page; if you do not, your card will not be cut properly.
  • If your photo does not seem to fit the space provided, use the “grey dots” found in the corners of the photo to resize (zoom in/zoom out) until the image fits the area.
  • Do NOT resize the image by stretching the height or width (taller or wider) as this can distort your photo.
  • If you want to replace the photo you have added with a different photo, do not delete the photo. Instead use the “Replace Image” button on the right to select a different photo.

Saving Your Design

Save the design:

When you are done with your changes to the design, click on the Save Changes button that is located on the far left of the page. You may save as many times as you like, but be sure to do a final save before downloading. If there is a red star next to the title of the design, it means that there are changes that have not been saved.

Once you download the file, it cannot be edited.

Approve the proof:

You will see the Approve Proof button next to the save button. This indicates that once you are done editing and saving your design, you will need to click on the Approve Proof button in order to complete your order. You will no longer be able to make any changes to the design once you have clicked the Approve Proof button.

A pop-up window will ask you if you are sure before completing. Please proofread your details, because once the item is completed, changes can no longer be made. If you do need to make changes to your completed design, please contact us.

After approving the proof:

I ordered a design I am printing myself:
After clicking the Approve Proof button, the Download button will appear and you will be able to download the file. (See next section in this guid, Download and Print.)

I ordered printed stationery from Kiwi & Bacon Designs:
After clicking the Approve Proof button will alert us that your design is done being edited and ready to send to print.

Download and Print

Download the file:

Click the Download button on the far left menu to begin the download process. You will see a small number two next to the Download icon to indicate that you can download your file twice.

When you click the Download button, the Download Design window will open and you will be able to select your download options from there.

Downloading a PDF file:
  • Choose Paper Size: If downloading as a PDF, select the paper size. The size of the design will remain the same regardless of the paper size chosen.
  • Add Bleed/Trim Marks: Your design may include a bleed (.125 extra edge around the design). Choose to include the bleed and/or trim marks allow for easier trimming, if desired. (Bleed is a term used to describe when an image runs all the way to the edge of a trimmed page. If your design calls for image or colour to extend to the edge of the paper, your image or color is “bleeding” off the page, and you need to download with a bleed.)
  • Tile Same Design/Tile Different Designs: This option will fit either the same page of the design on the same page of the PDF, or it will fit the design pages in order onto the same PDF page. For example, if printing a single invitation, front and back, you will want to tile the same design on each PDF page. If printing a design with consecutive pages (like a fan program or table numbers), then you want to select Tile Different Designs.
  • Download and Print: Click the Download PDF button to download. Both front and back files will download, if applicable to your design. After downloading, find the file in your Downloads folder. If you are printing at home, be sure that the file prints at 100% or Actual Size in the print settings (Scale to Fit). If you are printing at a print shop, we have included specs in the description section of the listing that you can send to the print shop.
Downloading a JPG, PNG, or a TINY PNG:
  • Show Bleed: You can choose to add a bleed to your image (.125 extra edge around the design). Bleed is a term used to describe when an image runs all the way to the edge of a trimmed page. If your design calls for image or colour to extend to the edge of the paper, your image or color is “bleeding” off the page, and you need to download with a bleed if you’re going to print the design.
  • Page #: If your design has multiple pages, you can select which page you would like to download; or you can download all the page files at once either individually or in a zipped file. Please note that if your design has multiple pages and is taking a longer time to download, it may be faster to download each page one at a time.
  • Download and Print: After downloading, find the file in your Downloads folder. If ordering prints online, upload the image directly from your computer. You can also save the image to a USB flash drive or SD card and take it into a photo center to print. Be sure that the prints ordered are the same dimensions as the design.
